It may have disposable gloves, sanitizer, liquid soap, sanitizer hand and surface wipes, surface spray, tissues, wet wipes, toilet seat spray, etc. You never know when you may need any of these. Remember that prevention is better than cure.

  • FIND SUITABLE RESTROOM
  • Find a clean public restroom near you, if possible. You can visit the nearest hotel, restaurant, cafe, or restrooms run by private organizations as they are supposed to be better sanitized and disinfected than the rest. Along with this, it a must follow these given tips to stay safe and hygienic during your visit to a public restroom

    --> DURING YOUR VISIT

    You have to be extra precautions while using public washrooms. The washroom at your own house is full of germs. You obviously cannot see these germs but your door, doorknobs, handles, cabinets, toilet seat, etc. all contain bacterias and germs. The washrooms are always wet and moist. These funguses and yeasts feed on the moisture. Restrooms cannot be kept totally dry. The warm temperature and humidity help these bacterias and viruses to grow. That is why you should be careful while using any restroom, let alone the common public ones. Imagine so many strangers using the same toilet seat and touching the same tap. These common surfaces are danger zones during Coronavirus times.

  • SWITCH ON EXHAUST
  • Switch on the exhaust fan before entering the restroom. Even in your own house. It keeps the restroom dry and throws out smelly and damp air.

  • WEAR GLOVESWear safe disposable gloves before entering any public restroom. This will minimize the risk of touching any surface that is home to millions of hazardous viruses and infections.
  • COVER YOUR MOUTH
  • Obviously, you will be wearing a face mask these days. But many people remove masks while in a private space like a washroom. Don’t commit this mistake. Always wear a mask in the washroom. Avoid chatting with your friend standing outside or sitting in the next cubicle.

  • DO NOT USE MOBILE PHONE
  • Never use a mobile phone inside a washroom. The cell phone becomes a warehouse of dirty germs and bacterias. You don’t sanitize your phone much. Also, do not talk over the phone while sitting in the restroom as the germs hanging in the air might enter your mouth.

    FLUSH FIRST

    Flush the toilet before using it. The person who has used it before may have forgotten to flush it. It also flushes away the bacterias on the surface.Remember to spray a good toilet seat spray religiously. Also, spray some on the toilet seat cover. Disinfect the seat properly before sitting on it. You can also use disinfectant wipes. But toilet seat sprays are better as you don’t need to touch the surface.

  • SANITIZE TAP
  • Disinfect the tap before opening it. Try to use taps with sensors or push buttons.

  • USE HANDS-FREE SOAP DISPENSER AND DRYER
  • Many public restrooms are now well equipped with hands-free soap dispensers and hand dryers. Just avoid hand soap bars at any cost. The area around hand dryers can be very dangerous because of the germ-filled water drops. Do not touch anywhere.

    --> AFTER YOUR VISIT

    The task isn’t over yet till you are out. Be extra vary before exiting the public restroom.

  • DRY HANDS PROPERLY
  • Most of the public restrooms these days have automatic paper towel dispensers near the door. Take one to hold the door knob or handle. Do not touch it directly.

    Once you are out, clean your hands with an effective and safe hand sanitiser or good antibacterial hand sanitiser wipes.
